Second World – Blue World (Náhookǫs Łizhinii)

The beings emerged into the Second World, the Blue World. It was larger, with wide skies and clear air. Blue light filled the land, reflected in rivers, lakes, and the wings of the birds that lived there. This was the home of the bird people — Bluebird, Swallow, Owl, and others — as well as certain four-legged animals who roamed the land. The world was full of sound: birdsong, wind, and the movement of wings.

First Man and First Woman lit fires and laid down sacred stones to bring order. The Holy People tried to settle in harmony with the creatures who lived here. But it was not to be. Old quarrels followed them from the First World. The newcomers and the bird beings argued, and distrust grew. Again, it was Coyote who pushed boundaries — he moved between groups, mocking, tricking, and stirring unrest. He was clever, but his cleverness left wounds.

The Blue World could not hold them. Conflict and disharmony forced the beings to climb again, guided by the Holy People, toward the Third World where greater lessons waited.
