Two Grey Hills – Voice of the Wool

Deep in the Chuska Mountains, where mist rolls over grey stone, the weavers of Two Grey Hills work by firelight and memory. Their materials? Nothing but wool from the Navajo-Churro sheep—our sacred companions. No dyes. No distractions. Just the natural hues of the earth and the animal: tawny sand, moonlit ivory, stone grey, and soot black.

Each rug is woven tight—some with over 100 wefts per inch. That’s not just skill; that’s devotion handed down from great-grandmothers, threading muscle memory into legacy.

But there’s more: weaving from undyed wool honors the sheep directly. The act of carding, spinning, and weaving becomes a prayer to them. To make something so intricate without color is to declare, “I trust the earth’s voice.”
